1. Who we are
Vela ("we", "our", "us") is an AI-powered CV builder. We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable European data protection law.
2. What data we collect
- →Account data: Your email address and password (hashed, never stored in plain text).
- →Career profile: Work history, education, skills, and any other information you paste or type into Vela. This is used exclusively to generate your CV.
- →CV sessions: The CV and cover letter content we generate for you, stored so you can download it later.
- →Usage data: How many CVs you have generated, your subscription plan, and your Stripe customer ID.
- →Satisfaction ratings: Optional star ratings and comments you leave about your CV quality.
- →Payment data: Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- ✓Generate, store, and let you download your CVs and cover letters
- ✓Manage your account and subscription
- ✓Improve the quality of CV generation using aggregated, anonymised feedback
- ✓Send transactional emails (password reset, email confirmation)
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as necessary to provide our service (Supabase for database hosting, Stripe for payments, Anthropic for AI generation).
4. Data retention
Your account data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days. CV sessions and documents are retained until you delete them or close your account.
5. Your rights (GDPR)
Under GDPR you have the right to:
- →Access the personal data we hold about you
- →Correct inaccurate data
- →Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- →Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- →Object to or restrict processing of your data

6. Cookies
We use only essential cookies — specifically the Supabase authentication session cookie required to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
7. Third-party services
- Supabase:Database and authentication (EU region). Privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy
- Anthropic:AI model for CV generation. Your career data is sent to Anthropic's API to generate your CV. It is not used to train their models. Privacy policy: anthropic.com/privacy
- Stripe:Payment processing. We share only your email and a customer ID. Privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy
